Carl Reinhold Graf von Krassow (born April 15, 1812 in Stralsund , † February 13, 1892 in Pansevitz on Rügen ) was a Prussian administrative officer and politician.

Life

Carl Reinhard von Krassow comes from the very noble Rügischen family von Krassow . He was the son of Friedrich Heinrich von Krassow (1775-1844) and his wife Jaquette Gustava, née von Essen. He received his school education from private tutors and studied from September 29, 1830 law and camera science at the University of Berlin , where he was very interested in the natural sciences . Together with Eduard Leyde, he wrote a three-volume textbook on zoology , botany and mineralogy .

In 1838 he was entrusted with the administration of the District Office of the Franzburg district and soon afterwards became District Administrator. After his father's death in 1844, he asked for his dismissal and devoted himself to managing the property in Divitz near Barth .

In 1848, together with the Stralsund pastor Magnus Böttger, he founded the Association of Friends of the Inner Mission in New Western Pomerania and Rügen .

In 1849 Krassow became a member of the Prussian House of Representatives for Franzburg and Rügen . In 1852 he became president of the Stralsund administrative district . In this position he devoted himself particularly successfully to the development of the school system. In 1861 Krassow became a member of the Prussian manor house on presentation of the old and fortified property in the landscape district of Neuvorpommern and Rügen . For his work, he was made an honorary citizen of Stralsund on March 31, 1869 . The Prussian King awarded him the Commander's Cross of the House Order of Hohenzollern and the title "Real Privy Councilor" with the title " Excellence ". In 1854 he was commendator of the Pomeranian Provincial Cooperative of the Order of St. John . He held the honorary post of master hereditary hunter in the Principality of Rügen and the Land of Barth.

In 1869 Krassow left for health reasons. He became a knightly representative for the Franzburg-Barth district in the provincial parliament of the Pomeranian province . He died in 1892 on his estate in Pansevitz on Rügen.

family

Krassow married in 1840 Clementine von Below (born March 11, 1819, † August 12, 1888), the daughter of Lieutenant General Wilhelm von Below (1783-1864), with whom he had three daughters. Therefore, with him, the count's branch of those von Krassow died out in the male line. The eldest daughter Luise von Krassow (born October 31, 1843, † February 7, 1930), married to Edzard zu Innhausen and Knyphausen , became the mistress of Krassow's Fideikommiss Pansevitz .
