Carsten Schloter (born December 7, 1963 in Erlenbach am Main , Bavaria ; † before or on July 23, 2013 in Villars-sur-Glâne , Canton of Friborg ) was a German manager . Since 2006 he has been Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Swiss telecommunications company Swisscom .

Life

Schloter attended the public elite school Lycée International in Saint-Germain-en-Laye . He then studied business administration at the University of Paris-Dauphine . After completing his studies, he worked as a system developer for Mercedes-Benz in Paris from 1986 , and from 1992, as a joint venture with Metro , prepared the introduction of a new mobile operator, 2M Tele AG. In 1995 he changed to the management of Debitel . In 2000 he went to Switzerland. At Swisscom, he headed the mobile communications division before taking over the management of the entire group after Jens Alder resigned in 2006. In addition, Schloter was Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fastweb (majority shareholder Swisscom) in Italy from 2007 to 2013 , and from April to November 2010 he was the interim Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company. He was also on the board of the Association Suisse des Télécommunications (asut) in Bern and a member of the board of the Swiss-American Chamber of Commerce in Zurich.

Schloter lived separately from his wife and three children since 2009. In his free time he was a passionate mountain biker , ski mountaineer and jogger .

On the morning of July 23, 2013, he was found dead at his home in Villars-sur-Glâne in the canton of Friborg. He committed suicide .
