Cedric van der Gun (born May 5, 1979 in The Hague ) is a former Dutch football player . He was mostly used as a center forward in the storm , but could also act as a winger .
Career
society
Cedric van der Gun played in his youth for HVV Den Haag , ADO Den Haag and Ajax Amsterdam . His professional career began at FC Den Bosch , where he also made his debut in the Eredivisie in the 1999/00 season . The then young player was with FCDB only for one year as a loan deal. Already in the 1998/99 season he was part of the professional squad of Ajax Amsterdam, but was not used there. This brought him back to Amsterdam in the summer of 2000 , where he made his breakthrough. With nine league goals in one year, he was more successful than at any other club since. As well as this year went, the next one was so bad. He won the Dutch championship with Ajax, but personally this season has not been satisfactory. Finally, the Ajax officials decided to lend him to league competitor Willem II Tilburg for the 2002/03 season . There he came back to more missions and was one of the regulars. The following year he finally left Ajax for good. ADO Den Haag signed the attacker and van der Gun was among the top performers for two years.
In 2005 he ventured abroad. The winger was under contract with Borussia Dortmund until June 2006 . At Borussia he wore jersey number 16. He made his first game for Dortmund with the amateurs against FC Gütersloh 2000 in August 2005. At BVB he was to play on the wings with David Odonkor , Salvatore Gambino and Delron Buckley . Van der Gun made his debut in the Bundesliga on matchday 3, August 28, 2005, in a 1-1 draw against MSV Duisburg . The then Dortmund coach Bert van Marwijk changed him in the 62nd minute for Euzebiusz Smolarek . On September 11, 2005, the following match day, he suffered a cruciate ligament rupture in the game against 1. FC Köln and was out for months. This injury set him back far. On the last day of the match van der Gun made his comeback for BVB. His expiring contract was not subsequently extended.
In the summer of 2006 he moved back home, to FC Utrecht . He was repeatedly thrown back because of injuries. In the 2008/09 season he was able to prove his qualities again when he scored ten goals in 21 games.
In the summer of 2009 he dared to go abroad again. This time he signed a two-year contract with the English second division club Swansea City from Wales . While he was still largely a regular player in the 2009/10 season , he was only used as a substitute in the 2010/11 season . After Swansea City's promotion to the Premier League in the summer of 2011 , his expiring contract was not extended.
After half a year without a club, he was signed back to his ex-club FC Utrecht in January 2012. He initially received a contract until the end of the 2011/12 season , which was then extended.
