Chaje Sara
Chaje Sara ( Biblical Hebrew חַיֵּי שָׂרָה 'Life of Sara ' ) refers to a reading section ( Parascha or Sidra) of the Torah and includes the text Genesis / Bereschit 23.1–25.18 (23.1–20 BHS , 24 BHS , 25.1–18 BHS ).
It is the cider of the 4th Shabbat in the month of Marcheschwan .
Essential content
- After Sara's death at the age of 127, Abraham bought the Machpela double cave near Hebron as a hereditary burial place from the Hittite prince Efron for 400 silver pieces . That is why the further name Hebron is written: Kirjat Arba , "City of Four", because of the four couples buried there: Adam and Eve , Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebekah , Jacob and Leah .
- Abraham instructs his servant to fetch a wife for Isaac from his home and family.
- The servant asks God for a sign that he is making the right choice.
- Rebekah, the daughter of Betuel, fulfills this sign.
- Rebekka's brother Laban and Betuel give their consent that they want to give Rebekah to the servant as a woman destined for Isaac, if Rebekah also agrees.
- Rebekah moves into Sara's tent as Isaac's wife.
- Abraham has six sons from a marriage to Ketura .
- Abraham dies at the age of 175 and is buried by Isaac and Ishmael in the Machpelah cave.
