Wesot Habracha

Wesot Habracha ( Biblical Hebrew וְזֹאת הַבְּרָכָה 'And this is the blessing' - to be added: Moses ) is a reading section ( Parascha or Sidra ) of the Torah and includes the text Dtn / Dewarim 33–34 (33 EU , 34 EU ).

It is the cider of the Simchat Torah festival.

Essential content

  • Before his death, Moses blesses the individual tribes except for the tribe of Simeon .
  • God makes him see the whole country.
  • Moses dies at the age of 120.
  • God himself buries him, nobody knows Moses' grave.
  • Israel mourns Moses for 30 days.
  • Israel obeys Joshua and carries out all the commands God gave Moses.
  • Conclusion of the Pentateuch : "Never again has a prophet like Moses appeared in Israel."
