Essential content

The continuation of Moses' retrospective speech begins with his request at the time to be allowed to immigrate to the promised land on the other side of the Jordan, the rejection of God and the installation of Joshua. An admonition follows not to change the Torah and to keep the laws. Three cities of refuge are mentioned.

The central beliefs of Israel are repeated: the Ten Commandments and the Shema-Israel prayer. The basic demands of God are love and fear. The annihilation of the seven Canaanite peoples ( Hittites , Girgashites , Amorites , Canaanites , Perizzites , Hivites and Jebusites ) and to avoid intermarriage with them is called and the sanctity of the people of Israel is repeated.
