Wajakhel ( Biblical Hebrew וַיַּקְהֵל 'And he gathered' - to be added: Moses the Israelites ) denotes a reading section (called Parascha or Sidra ) of the Torah and includes the text Exodus / Schemot 35–38.20 (35 BHS , 36 BHS , 37 BHS , 38.1– 20 BHS ).

It is the cider of the 4th or 5th Shabbat in the month of Adar rishon or, if (as is usually the case) connected with Pekude , the 4th or 5th Shabbat in the month of Adar .

Essential content

  • Moses gathers the entire congregation of the Israelites and imposes the Sabbath laws on them, in particular the prohibition of lighting fires
  • Moses' invitation to all to pay for the building of the sanctuary, the tools and the procurement of the priestly clothing
  • Appointment of Bezalels and Oholiab as well as other men with art knowledge as builders
  • Because there is an abundance of giving, the order is given to bring nothing more
  • Manufacture of the tabernacle , the ark with lid and cherubim , the candlestick made of pure gold and incense altar, the sacrificial altar and the courtyard

The associated Haftara is according to the Ashkenazi rite 1 Kings 7.40–50  BHS , according to the Sephardic rite 1 Kings 7.13–26  BHS .
