Wajelech
Wajelech ( Biblical Hebrew וַיֵּלֶךְ 'And he went' ) is a reading section ( Parascha or Sidra) of the Torah and includes the text Deuteronomy / Dewarim 31 BHS . The passage is named after the first word "And he [Moses] went and spoke to all Israel". It is the cider of the 1st Shabbat in the month of Tishri (or - if connected with Nizawim - the 4th Shabbat in the month of Elul ).
Essential content
- Moses declares that he must not cross the Jordan and that Joshua will be the leader in his place.
- Moses writes the Torah and gives it to the priests .
- Order to read the Torah to the gathered people every 7th year, the Shmittyear , at Sukkot
- God announced his approaching death to Moses and reveals to him that after his death the people would break the covenant and endure suffering.

The associated Haftara differs depending on the reading time, after individual reading or joint reading with Nizawim, there are also different local customs in this regard.
