Cheng Chao-tsun (born October 17, 1993 ) is a Taiwanese javelin thrower . He has held the Asian record in this discipline since 2017.
Athletic career
Cheng Chao-tsun gained her first international experience at the 2009 Asian Youth Games in Singapore , where she won the silver medal with 71.97 m. He then retired at the youth world championships in Brixen with 63.21 m in qualification. The following year he won the silver medal at the Junior Asian Championships in Hanoi with 73.26 m and qualified for the Junior World Championships in Moncton , where he was eighth with 71.58 m. He then finished fourth in the B final of the first ever Youth Olympic Games in Singapore. In 2011 he participated in theAsian Championships in Kobe part and classified with a width of 67.86 m in eleventh place. In 2012 he won the Junior Asian Championships in Colombo with 74.68 m and was eliminated from the qualification at the Junior World Championships in Barcelona with 67.88 m, as well as at the Summer Universiade in Kazan the following year with 65.38 m.
In 2014 he took part in the Asian Games in Incheon , South Korea for the first time and finished fifth with 81.61 m. In 2015 he finished seventh with 73.71 m at the Asian Championships in Wuhan and fourth at the Student World Games in Gwangju with 79.35 m. 2017 he was at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar with 80.03 m in sixth and also qualified for the World Championships in London , where he m with 77.87 in the qualification of. Two weeks later he won the gold medal at the Summer Universiade in Taipei with a new Asian and player record of 91.36 m. In 2018 he again took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta and finished fifth with 79.81 m. He then came in second at the Athletics Continental Cup in Ostrava with 83.28 m.
In 2019 he won the Asian Championships in Doha with a new championship record of 86.72 m and thus received a bye for the World Championships in October, which also took place in Doha, where he finished tenth with a width of 77.99 m in the final .
In 2010 and 2018, Cheng became Taiwanese javelin champion.
