Family coat of arms of the Chotek de Chotkova

Chotek von Chotkow and Wognin ( Czech : Chotek z Chotkova az Wognina ), also Chotek von Chotkowa and Wognin is the name of an old Bohemian noble family from the Chockov family seat .

history

The Chotek von Chotkow and Wognin family originally lived in Chockov, today a district of Lhotka near Radnitz in the Rokitzan district in western Bohemia , preserved as the ruins of a formerly extensive castle on a plateau and documented since 1115. According to the genealogist novel von Procházka, the sex is one of the country's ancient nobility. The Chotek are for the year 1181 with N. de Chotek ; 1390 to 1397 with Wenzel von Chotkow ; 1388 with Chotek de Broda, consul in Prague ; 1404 with Johann de Chotek ; 1404 to 1416 with Albert Chotek von Choteček and in the second half of the 14th century with "dominus Myloslaw, domina Wele, uxor ipsius, et dominus Wenlynus filius ipsorum, patroni ecclesiae in Chotkow" (Codex theal. 513, Hofbibliothek Wien). The second eponymous predicate "Wognin" (Vojnín) comes from a residence in Vojnův Městec (Münchsberg) in the Czaslauer Kreis in Eastern Bohemia.

The uninterrupted tribe series begins in 1400 with Otto Chotek von Czoczkowa on Liblin in western Bohemia. In 1625 a coat of arms was united with the extinct Charwat von Bärnstein ( Barnstejn ) through marriage to their heir Elisabeth. Wenzel Chotek von Chotkow was accepted into the old Bohemian gentry as baron von Chotkowa and Wognin on February 6, 1702 in Vienna. The same was raised on May 13, 1723 in Laxenburg to the Bohemian count status and on October 4, 1745 in Frankfurt am Main with an improvement in the coat of arms to the imperial count status. On October 31, 1760, the Chotek became magnates of Hungary.

A line founded by Karl Chotek von Chotkow had its seat in Großpriesen in North Bohemia on the Elbe.

By testamentary decree of Rudolf Count Chotek von Chotkowa and Wognin, who died childless in 1921, a name was merged with the Pallavicini family for Alexander Margrave Pallavicini, who was descended from the Chotek on his mother's side . The gender expired in the male line in 1921 and in the female line in 1970.
