Christian Franz von Weber

Christian Franz von Weber (born March 15, 1785 in Rappoltsweiler , Alsace , † February 11, 1862 in Munich ) was a royal Bavarian lieutenant general and court marshal . Since 1822 he was a bearer of the Military Max Joseph Order .

Life

Christian Franz Freiherr von Weber was born the son of a government councilor. He entered the military academy in Munich in 1802 and was a member of the Bavarian Cadet Corps from 1805 . In the same year he was appointed a cadet in the Leibregiment and on October 24, 1805, he was appointed Junker in the 7th Line Infantry Regiment. Just one month later, on November 20, Weber was transferred to the Kurprinz 2nd Line Infantry Regiment as a sub-lieutenant . With this unit he took part in the campaign against Austria in 1805 and in the campaign against Prussia in 1806/07 .

On April 10, 1808 Weber was appointed second adjutant in his regiment and promoted to first lieutenant on January 18, 1809 . As such, he took part in the campaign against Austria in 1809 . He was wounded in the hand at the Battle of Abensberg (April 19-20, 1809). In 1809 he was elected regimental adjutant. On January 26, 1812 he was appointed adjutant to Major General and Brigadier Anton von Rechberg . With him he experienced the campaign against Russia in 1812 and was promoted to captain 2nd class on November 29, 1812 .

On October 4, 1813 Weber, who had previously been sent to Munich on a difficult mission, became adjutant to Major General Karl Theodor von Pappenheim . With him he fought in the campaign against France in 1813/14. In the Battle of Hanau (October 30, 1813) Weber was slightly wounded in the thigh. When crossing of the Rhine at Basel on 22 December 1813 and in the first Zernierung of Hüningen he fought with distinction. Promoted to captain 1st class in the 2nd Line Infantry Regiment on April 30, 1814, he was transferred to the Grenadier Guard Regiment on August 1, 1814, but remained in command as adjutant general .

On February 22, 1815 Weber received his promotion to Rittmeister in the 7th Chevaulegers Regiment Prince Karl and served during the campaign of 1815 as a General Staff Officer in the 1st Light Cavalry Division under Lieutenant General Prince Karl of Bavaria , as his second adjutant he also served in the Was appointed during the year. After two unsuccessful requests, in January 1815 and April 1817, for admission to the Military Max Joseph Order for his service in the Battle of Hanau, he was given the highest signing of February 22, 1822 and an army command from October 1, 1822, accepted as a knight in the Military Max Joseph Order. This application was not accepted as a new one, as the pre-exclusion period for such submissions had expired. In a chapter of the order held on February 13, 1822 in Munich under the chairmanship of Major General Anton von Vieregg , the admission of Weber was decided unanimously.

In his position as adjutant of Prince Charles of Bavaria Weber received on 26 November 1830 the character as a lieutenant colonel and on 30 May 1834 was promoted to lieutenant colonel and real on May 22, 1836 to Colonel . On December 19, 1841 he was appointed court marshal of Prince Karl of Bavaria and on December 25, 1841 major general. After he had received the Cross of Honor of the Order of Ludwig on September 26, 1847 , he was promoted to lieutenant general a year later, on March 31, 1848. Weber was also the recipient of the Russian Order of St. Stanislaus , the Prussian Red Eagle Order 2nd Class with Star and the Grand Cross of the Saxon Order of Albrecht .

The pension request requested by Weber was approved by King Maximilian II Joseph of Bavaria on January 11, 1849 with regret. Christian Franz Freiherr von Weber died on February 11, 1862, at the age of 76, in Munich.
