Christiane Scrivener

Christine Scrivener (born September 1, 1925 in Mulhouse ) is a French politician. She was EU Commissioner from 1989 to 1995.

From 1976 to 1978 she was responsible for consumer protection in the governments of Jacques Chirac and Raymond Barre . In this capacity, she made several legislative changes, including the act of protecting consumer information about products and services, the loi sur la protection et l'information des consommateurs de produits et de services (Law on the protection of consumer advice on products and services Services), known as loi scrivener .

She was a member of the European Parliament from 1979 to 1984 .

In 1989 she became European Commissioner for Taxation and Customs Union , which she remained until 1995. From 1993 to 1995 she also took over the consumer protection department within the commission.
