Christoph Friedrich von Schöning (* 1737 in Schönrade in the Friedeberg Nm district ; † December 1, 1797 ibid) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

His parents were the colonel in Dragoon Regiment No. 3 Christoph Friedrich von Schöning (1690–1769) and his wife Marie Eleonore, née von Bergen. His father was the heir of Schönrade and Birkholz.

Military career

In 1754 Schöning joined the cuirassier regiment No. 2 of the Prussian Army as a standard junker . During the Seven Years' War he fought in the battles of Lobositz , Kolin , Breslau , Zorndorf , Kunersdorf , Liegnitz , Torgau and Reichenbach as well as in the sieges of Prague, Dresden and Schweidnitz. At that time he was cornet on February 25, 1757 , lieutenant on February 25, 1760 and May 27, 1762 staff assistant master . He then lasted until January 6, 1778, when he was appointed Rittmeister and company commander. As such, he took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 . On 20 June 1783, he was Major , on October 4, 1790 Lieutenant Colonel and on January 22, 1793 , Colonel . On July 9, 1794 he received his resignation and a pension of 600 thalers, and on August 8, 1794 he was given the character of major general. He died on December 1, 1797 on Schönrade.

He introduced the Mecklenburg farmhouse and the Mecklenburg hook on Gut Schönrade , which was also soon adopted by the other goods.

Schöning married Elisabeth Ernestine von Maltzahn (* 1760; † 14 May 1854) in Rottmannshagen (Mecklenburg) on ​​November 15, 1782 . She was later chief stewardess of Prince Friedrich of Prussia. The couple had several children including:
