Christoph Ingenhoven (born March 8, 1960 in Düsseldorf ) is a German architect .

Christoph Ingenhoven was born in Düsseldorf in 1960 and studied architecture from 1978 to 1984 at RWTH Aachen University and from 1980 to 1981 at the Düsseldorf Art Academy under Hans Hollein . Ingenhoven comes from a family of architects; his father Robert Ingenhoven , who died in 2005, worked as an architect. His brother Oliver Ingenhoven also has his own architectural office in Neuss . In 1985 Christoph Ingenhoven started his own business. His architectural office now operates under the name ingenhoven architects and is based in Düsseldorf.

Christoph Ingenhoven is one of the leading architects who advocate sustainable and ecological architecture. Its buildings are characterized by elegance , efficiency , the economical use of resources and a high level of aesthetic quality and innovative technology . His architectural office received international recognition in 1997 with the design of one of the first ecological high-rise buildings in the world, the RWE Tower in Essen. The most important buildings carried out include a. the European Investment Bank in Luxembourg, the Lufthansa Aviation Center at Frankfurt Airport, the headquarters of the Daniel Swarovski Corporation on Lake Zurich, the Oeconomicum in Düsseldorf and the 1 Bligh high-rise in Sydney, which is the first high-rise in Sydney to be awarded a Six-Star World Leadership certification from Australian eco-standards green star was awarded.

Under construction are u. a. the new Stuttgart main station and Marina One, a high-rise complex of office and residential buildings in Singapore and Kö-Bogen 2 in Düsseldorf.

Christoph Ingenhoven is a founding member of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) and the Federal Foundation for Building Culture and u. a. Member of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts . In addition to his membership in the North Rhine-Westphalia Chamber of Architects (AKNW) and the BDA Bund Deutscher Architekten , Christoph Ingenhoven is a member of the Swiss Association of Engineers and Architects SIA , RIBA The Royal Institute of British Architects , AlA American Institute of Architects , RAJA Australian Institute of Architects and the CTBUH Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat .

Awards

The ingenhoven architects office has received numerous national and international awards and recognitions, including a. the Holcim Awards Gold Sustainable Construction for Stuttgart Central Station and the International High-Rise Award 2012/2013 for 1 Bligh, Sydney. On September 26, 2019, he received the Gottfried Semper Architecture Prize from the Saxon Academy of the Arts.
