Claes Bang
Claes Kasper Bang (born April 28, 1967 in Odense ) is a Danish actor .
Life
Claes Bang completed an acting training at the National Theater School (Statens Teaterskole) in Copenhagen from 1992 to 1996 . He made his acting debut in 1996 at the Children's Theater Skægspiren (Børneteatret Skægspiren) in Odense .
His first great success as a theater actor was in 1997 as Pelléas in the play Pelléas et Mélisande at the Kaleidoskop Theater in Copenhagen. There he also played in the play Kondylomer in the same year . From 2001 to 2004 Claes Bang was a permanent member of the ensemble at Aalborg Teater in Aalborg ; there he made his breakthrough with the monologue Ondskaben (based on the novel by Jan Guillou ). His other stage roles at Aalborg Teater included a. a. Lorenzo in The Merchant of Venice and Varius in The learned women . He also appeared there in the musical Kiss Me, Kate (2002) and in a theatrical version of the novel In 80 Days Around the World (in various roles). In 2004 he played the role of Rosenkrantz in an open-air production of Hamlet at Schloss Kronberg .
Bang also had theater engagements at Det Danske Teater, Husets Teater in Copenhagen (2005, 2009 and 2010) and at Århus Teater in Århus . At the Århus Theater he performed a. a. as Erik in Die Gregersen Saga. The whole story (2005-2007; 2008; original title: Gregersen Sagaen ) and 2007 as Rogozin in a stage version of the novel The Idiot .
Bang has appeared in numerous Danish feature films, television films and television series. In Denmark he had continuous series roles in the series Taxa (1997-1999; as detective Christian), Hotellet (2001; as detective assistant Bjarne) and 2900 Happiness (2008-2009; as mayor Hans Holm).
In the Danish police series Anna Pihl - On patrol in Copenhagen , he had a continuous series lead role from 2006 to 2008. He played Martin, the colleague and friend of the main female character. This also made Bang better known in Germany. In 2006 he had a small role in the Danish film En Soap . In the Danish-Swedish-German crime series Die Brücke - Transit in den Tod he appeared in several episodes in 2013 as a callboy / gigolo Claudio.
Bang had already taken on an episode role in a German television series in 2003, as Dane Jørn in the ZDF series Der Landarzt . Since 2010, Bang has been seen regularly in German-language roles in German film and television productions. In the movie Jungle Child (2011) he took on the role of the American Herb. In the 8th season of the ZDF series SOKO Wismar (2012) he had one of the main episode roles as the Estonian guest commissioner Urmas Savi investigating in Wismar . In the television film Alle unter ein Tanne , which was first broadcast on Das Erste in December 2014 , he played the driving instructor Micha, alongside Gaby Dohm , her lover, who is over 20 years younger than him. In the two seasons of the ZDF television series Sibel & Max (2015-2016) Bang had a continuous series lead role. He embodied the character of Dr. Tobias Olsen, a trauma surgeon and co-owner of an emergency medical practice. In December 2016, Bang was seen in the ZDF crime series SOKO Cologne in a leading role as a suspected Danish professional mini golf player Jens Jensen.
In 2017, Bang starred in Ruben Östlund's satirical drama The Square , which won the Palme d'Or at the 70th Cannes Film Festival . Bang himself received the European Film Prize for his portrayal of the museum curator Christian . Since then he has appeared in several international productions.
Claes Bang is married to the stylist Lis Louis-Jensen. Bang lives in Copenhagen and Berlin .
