Clara Woltering (born March 2, 1983 in Münster-Hiltrup ) is a German handball player .
Career
society
Woltering began playing handball at DJK Eintracht Coesfeld VBRS, where she was also active in the football division until she was 16. The 1.78 m tall goalkeeper moved to Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2000 . In 2002 she was sidelined for six months due to a torn cruciate ligament . In the 2003/04 season, the state-certified farmer was loaned to Borussia Dortmund . In Dortmund she was a regular goalkeeper and recommended herself for the national team through her performances. From 2004 she again guarded the gate of Bayer Leverkusen, where the former national goalkeeper Andreas Thiel directed the goalkeeper training. From the 2011/12 season she played for the Montenegrin club ŽRK Budućnost Podgorica . With Budućnost Podgorica she won the Montenegrin championship four times, the Montenegrin Cup four times and the EHF Champions League twice . Since July 2015 she has been under contract with Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund. With Dortmund, she lost the DHB Cup final against HC Leipzig in 2016 . Woltering ended her career after the 2018/19 season. She then took over the post of goalkeeping coach at BVB.
National team
Woltering completed 222 missions for the national team, her international debut was on November 22, 2003 in Nagold against Belarus. At the World Cup in Russia in December 2005 , Clara Woltering was sixth with the German national handball team . She took 7th place with the German national team at the 2009 World Cup in the People's Republic of China . She also took part in the 2013 World Cup. After the 2017 World Cup , she ended her international career.
