Location of the CA du Lac du Bourget in the Savoie department |
The Communauté d'agglomération du Lac du Bourget is a former French community association with the legal form of a Communauté d'agglomération in the Savoie department . The association of municipalities in the north-west of the Savoie department consisted of 17 municipalities over an area of 172.8 km 2 . Its name referred to the Lac du Bourget , on the east bank of which lies the small town of Aix-les-Bains , which also housed the administrative center.
tasks
The member communities had ceded very extensive competencies to the association. The competencies required included the development and promotion of economic activities and tourism as well as spatial planning based on a Schéma de Cohérence Territoriale . The municipal association steered housing policy (including social housing). He ran road maintenance, parking management and rescue services and was active in all environmental issues such as drinking water supply, wastewater treatment, noise protection, air purity, garbage collection and garbage disposal. In the infrastructure sector, the association was responsible for local public transport and school bus transport.
Historical development
The intermunicipal cooperation in the Aix-les-Bains area began in 1954 with the Syndicat Intercommunal du Lac du Bourget (SILB) association . A Communauté de communes emerged from this end of 2001 . The law of July 12, 1999 allows associations of municipalities with more than 50,000 inhabitants to be converted into a communauté d'agglomération, which has greater powers than a communauté de communes. At the end of 2006, the Communauté de communes du Lac du Bourget completed this transformation.
With effect from January 1, 2017, the community association merged with the Communauté de communes du Canton d'Albens and the Communauté de communes de Chautagne and thus formed the successor organization Grand Lac - Communauté d'agglomération du Lac du Bourget .
