The Communauté de communes Sud Ouest Creuse is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté de communes in the department of Creuse in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . It was founded on November 2, 2016 and comprises 43 municipalities (as of January 1, 2019). The administrative headquarters are in Saint-Dizier-Masbaraud .

Historical development

The community association was created with effect from January 1, 2017 through the merger of the predecessor organizations

• Communauté de communes Bourganeuf Royère de Vassivière and
• Communauté de communes du Pays Creuse-Thaurion-Gartempe , also known as Communauté intercommunale d'aménagement du Territoire Creuse-Thaurion-Gartempe (CIATE) .

The association originally founded under the cumbersome name Communauté de communes CIATE, Bourganeuf / Royère-de-Vassivière was renamed to its current name with effect from January 1, 2018. At the same time, the municipalities of Mazeirat , Peyrabout and Saint-Yrieix-les-Bois left the local association and joined the Communauté d'agglomération du Grand Guéret .

On January 1, 2019, the former municipalities of Saint-Dizier-Leyrenne and Masbaraud-Mérignat formed the Commune nouvelle Saint-Dizier-Masbaraud . This reduced the number of member municipalities to 43. The administrative seat was transferred to the municipality of Saint-Dizier-Masbaraud.
