Compte tes blessures (English title Taste of Ink ) is a 2016 French film and the directorial debut of Morgan Simon .

The actors included Kévin Azaïs , Monia Chokri and Nathan Willcocks . A Taste of Ink made its debut on September 12, 2016 during the San Sebastián International Film Festival and was praised by the expert jury.

action

Vincent is 24 and has half his body tattooed and his voice damaged by singing in a post-hardcore band. Since his mother's death, he has been working as a piercer , with whom he is dissatisfied, and his father, who is a fishmonger . When he gets to know a younger woman, old wounds that were believed to be forgotten break open in Vincent and he is barely able to control his anger and longing.

The film was screened at several film festivals, including Rotterdam , Stockholm , Los Angeles , Zurich , Zagreb , Bordeaux and the Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara Film Festival .

Awards

Kévin Azaïs was named Best Actor at the Stockholm International Film Festival.

production

The development of the film took place in the L'Atelier of the Cinéfondation Foundation during the Cannes Film Festival 2015 and in The Jerusalem International Film Lab under the supervision of László Nemes .

The shooting lasted seven weeks. The production costs amounted to just over 2.1 million euros, of which 900,000 euros were taken over by the Cinéfondation.

Most of the music heard in the film was interpreted by the fictional post-hardcore band VII Day Diary. However, pieces by the groups Circa Survive ( "The Birth of the Economic Hit Man" ), Being as an Ocean ( "This Loneliness Won't Be the Death of Me" ) and Devil Sold His Soul ( "An Ocean of Light" ) to listen. Furthermore have Mike Kourtzner , Elvis Crespo , The City and Good Health participated in the soundtrack.

Aftermath

Unused film material was used by the American melodic hardcore band Being as an Ocean for a music video for the song This Loneliness Won't Be the Death of Me after consultation with Simon Morgan . A few days after the Paris attacks in November 2015 , the group played a concert in Bordeaux , where the additional video recordings were made. The video, published in March 2017, is dedicated to the victims and relatives of the terrorist attacks in Paris.

inspiration

The main character of the film, Vincent, is an admirer of Oliver Sykes and his band Bring Me the Horizon . In the film it is shown that Vincent is wearing black Michael Jordan jerseys based on Sykes . The fact that Vincent's band plays post-hardcore is also based on Bring Me the Horizon. The original French title of the film Compte tes blessures is a reference to the debut album Count Your Blessings by Bring Me the Horizon.
