Corydon is a town (with the status " City ") and the administrative seat of Wayne County in the US -amerikanischen State Iowa . In 2010 , Corydon had 1,585 inhabitants, the number of which decreased slightly to 1,584 by 2013.

Corydon is located in southern Iowa, around 20 km north of the border with the neighboring state of Missouri . The border with Nebraska visual Missouri River flows some 230 km to the west; about 170 km east of the Mississippi forms the border between Iowa and Illinois .

When Wayne County was to be administered in 1851, the decision was made to locate the administrative center near the geographic center. The settlement was laid out according to plan in the same year and named after Corydon in Indiana , the place of origin of a local judge. Corydon was incorporated as an independent municipality in 1857.
In 1879 the city was connected to the railway network for the first time. Several lines of different railway companies ran through Corydon.
