The Costa Rican men's national basketball team represents Costa Rica in international basketball matches. The Costa Rican federation did not join FIBA until 1969 and the first noteworthy participation of a men's national team in an international tournament was the participation in the Central American Central American Championship in 1989 , in which they achieved a seventh place among ten participants. Two years later, they reached fifth and last place in a reduced field of participants. A qualification for a continental or even global finals has not yet succeeded.
