Crookston is a city (with the status " City ") and the administrative seat of Polk County in the US -amerikanischen State Minnesota . Crookston, which is part of the Greater Grand Forks metropolitan area , had 7,891 inhabitants in 2010 .

In addition to Grand Forks in North Dakota (40.7 km west-northwest), the nearest larger cities are Fargo in North Dakota (113 km south), Winnipeg in the Canadian province of Manitoba (265 km north), Duluth on Lake Superior (386 km east-southeast) and Minneapolis (464 km southeast).
