Cross Plains is located in south-central Wisconsin, in the northwestern suburb of its capital, Madison . The intersection of the three states of Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois on the Mississippi River is 127 km to the southwest.
The geographical coordinates of Cross Plains are 43 ° 06'52 "north latitude and 89 ° 39'20" west longitude. The municipality extends over an area of 4.56 km². The place is surrounded by the Towns Berry (in the north) and Cross Plains (in the south) without belonging to one of these towns.
