Cruise Days
The Hamburg Cruise Days ( English for " Hamburg Cruise Days ") are a maritime cultural event in Hamburg that was held for the first time in summer 2008. The usual cycle - every two years in even years - was interrupted in 2015 in favor of the new cruise week. From 2015 the Hamburg Cruise Days and Seatrade Europe, the leading European trade fair for the cruise industry, will take place on the Hamburg Messe site at the same time every two years.
Several cruise ships call at the Port of Hamburg during the Cruise Days . The participating shipping companies and cruise operators present their ships and travel concepts. The Cruise Days are accompanied by a diverse supporting program, with highlights such as B. the Great Ship Parade in the illuminated harbor, many spectators gather at the Elbe. During the Hamburg Cruise Days 2012, more than half a million people from all over the world visited the event.
The Hamburg Cruise Days 2008 and 2010 were organized by Hamburg Marketing GmbH , whose majority shareholders are the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg (55 percent) and the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce (30 percent). The events in 2012 and 2014 were carried out on behalf of Hamburg Marketing GmbH by the agencies uba and red roses communications.
Hamburg Cruise Days 2008
The Cruise Days 2008 took place from July 30th to August 3rd. The focus was on large cruise ships, including the Queen Mary 2 and the Deutschland , known from the television series Das Traumschiff . In addition to the two ship parades, in which the museum cargo ship Cap San Diego and the Russian sailing training ship Sedov also took part, and accompanying fireworks, the “Blue Port” project was one of the highlights. The light show, which illuminated 30 objects around the harbor with 2,000 blue light sources, came from the artist Michael Batz , who also implemented the Blue Goal light art project for the 2006 World Cup in Hamburg .
Hamburg Cruise Days 2010
A total of 23 shipping companies for ocean and river cruises took part in the Cruise Days, which took place from July 30th to August 1st 2010. Several cruise lines presented themselves in the fish auction hall . Also Sedov and Cap San Diego were, as in 2008, again part of the program. The artist Michael Batz by the blue lighting of 50 buildings, ships, bridges again has the blue harbor project - BluePort implemented in the period from July 26 to August 1st.
Hamburg Cruise Days 2012
In 2012 the Hamburg Cruise Days took place from August 17th to 19th. This time there were numerous themed islands on land that illustrate life on the high seas. Seven cruise ships took part in the festivities: the AIDAluna , the AIDAmar , the Deutschland , the Astor , the Columbus 2 , the MSC Lirica and the Queen Mary 2 . The Blue Port by light artist Michael Batz was also part of the third Hamburg Cruise Days .
Hamburg Cruise Days 2014
In 2014 the Hamburg Cruise Days took place from August 1st to 3rd. This time, too, there were twelve themed islands on a four-kilometer section along the Elbe with events by the cruise lines or various cultural events.
A total of six cruise ships were invited by the organizer: the AIDAluna , the AIDAstella , the Deutschland , the Delphin , the Europa , the MSC Magnifica . The AIDAstella , Germany , Europa and MSC Magnifica took part in the parade . The Gann , the Cap San Diego and the steam-powered icebreaker Stettin also took part. At the same time, the Blue Port by light artist Michael Batz took place again. The organizers drew a positive conclusion from the Cruise Days 2014, among other things because 2014 saw a new visitor record of 600,000 visitors.
Hamburg Cruise Days 2015
In 2015 the Hamburg Cruise Days took place from September 11th to 13th. The usual cycle - every two years in even years - was interrupted in 2015 in favor of the new cruise week (from 7th to 13th September 2015). The Hamburg Cruise Days and Seatrade Europe now take place at the same time every two years. Seven cruise ships were announced for the event: Costa neoRomantica , Amadea , Mein Schiff 4 , Europa , AIDAbella , Queen Mary 2 and MSC Splendida . This year, on a total of 15 themed islands, there were events related to vacation and travel on the cruise ships, gastronomy by the star chef and entertainment with maritime markets and concerts on the NDR show stage. The light art work Blue Port bathed the Port of Hamburg in blue light again from September 4th to 13th.
Hamburg Cruise Days 2017
In 2017 the Hamburg Cruise Days took place from September 8th to 10th. Eleven cruise ships were announced for the event: Silver Wind , Amadea , Albatros , MS Sans Souci , Europa 2 , Mein Schiff 3 , Europa , Katharina von Bora , AIDAprima , Norwegian Jade and MSC Preziosa . On the evening of September 9, only five of the six planned ships took part in the parade. My ship 3 could not cast off because a rope was caught in the propeller. A separate fireworks display was set off for each participating ship. In 2017 the Cruise Days again took place against the backdrop of the Blue Port light art , which shrouded the Port of Hamburg in blue light from September 1st to 10th. According to the organizer, 500,000 spectators came to this event.
Hamburg Cruise Days 2019
In 2019 the Hamburg Cruise Days took place from September 13th to 15th, 2019.
