The MSC Magnifica is a cruise ship the Musica class derived from the shipping company MSC cruises is operated. Identical sister ships are the MSC Musica , MSC Orchestra and MSC Poesia .

The ship offers capacity for over 2,500 passengers on 13 passenger decks.

Areas of application

The MSC Magnifica was mainly used for Mediterranean cruises until 2012. The starting and ending ports were regularly Venice. Since the new MSC Divina added to the fleet in May 2012 , the MSC Magnifica left the Mediterranean between June and September 2012 and was instead used for Northern European cruises. The fjords in Norway , Svalbard and the Baltic Sea are visited. The ship will return to the Mediterranean in autumn 2012, and ports in the western Mediterranean will be called from Genoa . Cruises to South America are planned for the winter season 2012/2013 - it is expected that she will sail there again in 2013/2014. The MSC Magnifica is the shipping company's 11th new build and was built at the STX Europe shipyard in Saint-Nazaire , France . On January 14, 2009, the ship was left out of dry dock . The handover to the shipping company took place on February 25, 2010. The ship sailed under the Panamanian flag and its home port was Panama City .

Incidents

Incident 2013

Towards the morning of November 20, 2013, the MSC Magnifica drifted against the pier and the beacon at the entrance to the port of Piraeus in strong winds . The pier was slightly damaged, the beacon totally destroyed. The ship itself only suffered a dent near the bow on the port side just above the waterline.
