The Golden Iris is a ship owned by the Mano Maritime shipping company .
history
The ship was built in 1975 at the Burmeister & Wain shipyard in Copenhagen. It was commissioned by Cunard Line as the Cunard Conquest . After a renovation in 1977, the ship was renamed the Cunard Princess .
During the Gulf War , the ship was chartered from the United States' Armed Forces Recreation Center . On December 24, 1990, it arrived in Bahrain and was used by US soldiers deployed in the Gulf War for relaxation and recreation.
From October 19, 1991, the ship drove again for the Cunard Line . In 1995 it was sold to StarLauro Cruises , the shipping company now known as MSC Crociere. For StarLauro Cruises, the ship was a replacement for Achille Lauro, who was completely destroyed by fire and sunk . StarLauro Cruises used the ship as a Rhapsody . The ship was sold to Mano Maritime on April 9, 2009 and renamed Golden Iris .
Technical specifications
The ship is powered by four seven-cylinder - diesel engines of manufacturer B & W driven. The engines each have an output of 3861 kW and drive two controllable pitch propellers .
A total of five diesel generators are available for the power supply . Four of the generators have an apparent power of 1,575 kVA , the fifth has an apparent power of 312.5 kVA.

Sister ship was the Ocean Countess , built as Cunard Countess , which was scrapped in Aliaga in 2014 after a fire in 2013.
