As Ocean Glory I in Dover, August 2001, shortly before scrapping

In April 1961 Provence was chartered to Costa Armatori in Genoa and is now used between Genoa and Buenos Aires. In 1965 the ship was sold to Costa Armatori and, after being converted, came back into service as Enrico C. From 1966 it was used for cruises . In 1979 it was rebuilt again at the Mariotti shipyard . From 1987 the ship, now renamed Enrico Costa , drove for the Costa Crociere, which emerged from the Costa Armatori company . In 1989/1990 the ship was rebuilt again.

In December 1994 the Costa Crociere sold the ship to the Star Lauro in Naples , which renamed it Symphony . About a year later it went to MSC Cruises . In April 2000 it was sold to Golden Sun Cruises in Piraeus and renamed Aegean Spirit . Golden Sun Cruises chartered the ship to Festive Holidays from June 2001, who renamed it Ocean Glory I and offered it primarily on the British market for cruises. When the ship was first called in Dover in July 2001, a review of the ship by the Marine and Coastguard Agency revealed various deficiencies and a ban on sailing was imposed. The charter was canceled and the ship was finally sold for scrapping in September of that year. Under the name Classica , it reached Alang at the end of October 2001 , where it was canceled from November.

Technical specifications

The ship was initially powered by two steam turbines. In 1989/1990 the steam turbines at the Fincantieri shipyard in Genoa were replaced by two sixteen-cylinder diesel engines from the manufacturer Wärtsilä with an output of 11,850  kW . The speed of the ship was 18  knots .
