MSC Armonia is a cruise ship operated by the Swiss shipping company MSC Cruises . The ship is registered in Panama.

history

As a European Vision in December 2003 in front of Santa Cruz de Tenerife

The MSC Armonia was originally built for the shipping company Festival Cruises and entered service in 2001 under the name European Vision . The ship had a length of 251 meters and a tonnage of 58,625 GT. It offered 2223 passengers in 777 cabins. After Festival Cruises went bankrupt, former competitor MSC bought the ship and named it MSC Armonia . At MSC it is customary for the ship's name to start with the company code. The company also bought the sister ship of the former European Vision , the European Stars from Festival Cruises and named it MSC Sinfonia .

The MSC Armonia operated in the Mediterranean in the European summer and in South America in the European winter.

In 2001 the meeting of the G8 heads of government took place on board during the G8 summit in the port of Genoa.

As of August 31, 2014, the MSC Armonia at the Italian shipyard Fincantieri in Palermo was extended to 275 meters and equipped with more modern technology and new possibilities for entertaining guests. The keel of the central ship section was laid on May 19, 2014. As part of the shipping company's so-called “renaissance program” , the maximum number of passengers was increased to 2579 with 200 additional cabins , both for the shipping company and for all other ships in the Lirica class . The tonnage increased by around 6,500 GT. In September 2014, the ship was separated and a 24 meter long middle section was inserted. On November 8, 2014, the ship left for shipyard test drives. The renovation was completed on November 17, 2014.
