The MSC Bellissima is a cruise ship operated by the Swiss shipping company MSC Cruises . It is the second ship in the Meraviglia class .

history

As of March 20, 2014, MSC Cruises and STX France (now Chantiers de l'Atlantique ) agreed a letter of intent for the construction of second cruise ships for the "Vista" project with delivery in 2017 and 2019. These included the MSC Meraviglia and the MSC Bellissima , their delivery was agreed for 2019. The name MSC Bellissima was announced on the occasion of the floating of the MSC Meraviglia on September 2, 2016. Construction began on November 28, 2016 with the first steel cut. The ship was laid down in October 2017. The coin ceremony followed on November 15, 2017. At the same time, the name of the first ship in the Meraviglia Plus class was announced - MSC Grandiosa - and construction of this ship began. The construction dock was flooded on June 14, 2018, the ship undocked on June 15, 2018 and relocated to Basin C for final equipment. On December 19, 2018, the ship left for a test drive. The MSC Bellissima was delivered on February 27, 2019.

The ship was christened on March 2, 2019 by Sophia Loren in Southampton .
