The Curimaná district is located in the Padre Abad Province in the Ucayali region in northeastern Peru . The district was formed on January 5, 1995 from parts of the Padre Abad district. It has an area of ​​1866 km². The 2017 census counted 7,722 inhabitants. In 2007 the population was 6,047. The district administration is located in the 172  m high village of Curimaná with 3,598 inhabitants on the east bank of the Río Aguaytía (as of 2017). Curimaná is located 78 km northeast of the provincial capital Aguaytía .

Geographical location

The Curimaná district is located in the northeast of the Padre Abad province. The Río Aguaytía crosses the district in a predominantly east-northeast direction. The district lies on the western edge of the Amazon basin .

The Curimaná district is bordered on the southwest by the district Padre Abad , on the west by the district Contamana ( province of Ucayali , Loreto region ), in the northeast on the district Nueva Requena ( Province of Coronel Portillo ), in the southeast of the district Neshuya and in the central south the district of Irázola .
