The 23rd EuroEyes Cyclassics 2018 was a German road bike race . The one-day race took place on Sunday , August 19, 2018 . This bike race started and ended in Hamburg with a length of 216.4 km . It was also part of the UCI WorldTour 2018 . Last year's winner Elia Viviani from Italy from Quick-Step Floors was the winner again this year .

route

The start took place on the Alster . From there it went into the surrounding area with a flat route. In the final, the Waseberg was three times (700 meters long and up to 15 percent steep), but the last time was 15 km from the finish. Then it went towards the goal in Mönckebergstrasse .

Race course

In the initial phase, five drivers took off, including winner Anacona (Colombia / Movistar). This group had a lead of a maximum of three minutes. Shortly before the last passage of the Waseberg the group was posed. Sonny Colbrelli (Italy / Bahrain-Merida) then attacked at the Waseberg . He then initiated a group of ten drivers who had a lead of a maximum of 20 seconds. Alexei Lutsenko (Kazakhstan / Astana) was overtaken as the last driver in the group . One of the favorites to win, Pascal Ackermann (Germany / Bora) , fell 1500 meters . This created holes in the peloton. In the end, the Italian Elia Viviani won ahead of the French Arnaud Démare (Groupama-FDJ) and the Norwegian Alexander Kristoff (UAE Team Emirates).
