Cyriak from Polheim

Cyriak Freiherr von Polheim (also Freiherr von Polheim and Wartenburg ; * June 6, 1495 , † July 2, 1533 in Linz ) was an Austrian statesman .

Life

Polheim came from the Austrian noble family of the same name Polheim . He was the son of the Austrian statesman Wolfgang von Polheim and Johanna von Borsselen (1476–1509), daughter of Count Wolfhart VI. von Borsselen , Marshal of France. He was mentioned on July 22, 1515 at the double wedding in Vienna as an envoy of the Upper Austrian estates. He is said to have already made a name for himself under the reign of Archduke Charles . In 1519 he was appointed one of the twelve district administrators in Upper Austria .

In the time of Archduke Ferdinand in 1521, Polheim became a member of the court council , later of the secret council , the court chamber and also chief steward . He also held the office of governor of Upper Austria in 1524 and 1525 , and the office of governor of Lower Austria in 1526 and 1527 .

Polheim is said to have rendered outstanding services to the University of Vienna and was honored with the text Ad generosum Virum, atque magnificum DD Ciriacum Baronem a Polhaim et Wartenburg… Authore Vlricho Fabro Rheto, Physico et Poeta , printed in 1526 .

Polheim was buried in the former Minorite monastery in Wels .

In 1517 Cyriak von Polheim married Elisabeth von Öttingen, Countess von Öttingen , and had the following children:
