Dirk Joachim "DJ" Jelitto (born June 29, 1984 in West Valley City , Utah ) is an American - German ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Lausitzer Füchsen in the DEL2 since 2013 .
Career
DJ Jelitto began his ice hockey career with junior clubs in the Ontario Hockey League , one of the three professional junior leagues of the Canadian Hockey League , and the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League . In his first years as a senior he played at Club Utah Grizzlies , which is based in his hometown and competes in the ECHL . After three seasons he moved to the club Oklahoma City Blazers , also in one of the third highest American leagues, the Central Hockey League , where he stormed two seasons.
After these years he moved to Germany. He was active for four years for the EC Hannover Indians , where he played a leading role and was voted Player of the Year in the 2012/13 season . Due to the bankruptcy of the Indians, who were retreating to the top league , DJ Jelitto switched to Lausitzer Füchsen in Weißwasser in 2013 , but terminated the contract in October to care for his sick father, who was living in America. He is now back playing with the Utah Grizzlies , his hometown club.
