DIOXIN Conference

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The DIOXIN Conference has been a scientific conference that has been held annually since 1980 and is held alternately in different parts of the world . Analytics experts, toxicologists and environmental chemists from all over the world meet for a one-week international symposium to present and discuss the latest findings and research results on halogenated organic pollutants. It is currently known as the International Symposium on Halogenated Persistent Organic Pollutants ( POPs ) .

history

The conference was founded by Otto Hutzinger and colleagues in 1980 as a reaction to a number of environmentally relevant incidents such as the Sevesoung accident . The DIOXIN Conference, which has been held annually to date (with the exception of 1983), focuses on organohalogen compounds and especially polychlorinated dibenzo- p- dioxins and dibenzofurans (PCDD / PCDF). Fluorine chemistry is becoming increasingly important at the conference .

The International Advisory Board (IAB) of the conference is chaired by Heidelore Fiedler and Michael S. Denison. Events taking place in parallel were and are FLUOROS and the International PCB Symposium . The conference contributions will be published in the Organohalogen Compounds series.
