Adam Goldstein
Adam Michael Goldstein (born March 30, 1973 in Philadelphia , † August 28, 2009 in New York City ) was an American musician , disc jockey (DJ) and record producer . He became better known under his stage name DJ AM .
Life
Goldstein was born into a Jewish family.
At the age of 20 Goldstein began remixing songs. In 1999 he became a member of the nu-metal band Crazy Town . He later worked with musicians such as Samantha Ronson , Papa Roach , Madonna and Will Smith . He was engaged to Nicole Richie , Lionel Richie's daughter .
On August 28, 2009, Goldstein was found dead in his New York apartment. According to the investigation report, he died of an overdose of pain medication. At the autopsy, nine oxycodone tablets were found in his stomach, and the crack pipe found in the apartment showed no signs of recent use. It cannot be ruled out that Goldstein suffered from pain from now on due to a plane crash on September 20, 2008, which he survived with Travis Barker . He was badly burned in the crash.
Goldstein's body was cremated and interred in Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery in Culver City , Los Angeles County , California . His grave block is Garden of Rebecca , Block 12, Plot 106, Space 2.
Trivia
- Goldstein was a big collector of shoes, especially Nike . He owned over 600 pairs of shoes, including sports shoes made for him personally by Nike. Nike has used the DJ-AM logo on a range of shoes for a while.
- Goldstein's closest friends included Steve Aoki , Travis Barker , Jay-Z , Paris Hilton , Shifty Shellshock , Kanye West , Will Smith and Lionel Richie .
- "DJ AM" can be found as a character in the game DJ Hero .
- In the movie Iron Man 2 he made a small appearance as a DJ at a party. The scene, shot shortly before his death, was used in the film with the consent of the family. A dedication can be found in the credits.
