DaJuan Michael Summers (born January 24, 1988 in Baltimore , Maryland ) is an American basketball player . He plays in the forward position . In the 2009 NBA Draft , he was drafted 35th by the Detroit Pistons . He attended Georgetown University in Washington, DC and started there as a small forward .

High school

Summers attended McDonogh School, a private school in Owings Mills. There he averaged 20 points and 11 rebounds in his junior season and was Baltimore City Player of the Year . He was also one of 21 high school players who entered the 2006 Jordan All-American Classic.

college

After high school, Summers attended Georgetown University and played for the university's team, the Georgetown Hoyas .

Freshman (2006/2007)

Summers was a freshman in the Big East All-Rookie Selection and reached the Final Four with the Hoyas , where they lost to the Ohio State University team led by Greg Oden . Nevertheless, it was the most successful season for the Hoyas in a long time, including becoming the Big East Champion .

Sophomore (2007/2008)

The Hoyas won the regular season title, to which Summers contributed 11.1 points and 5.4 rebounds. In the Big East Final, however, the Hoyas lost to the University of Pittsburgh . Summers was named to the NABC All-District Second Team after the season .

Junior (2008/2009)

The Hoyas , led by Greg Monroe , only reached the first round of the Big East tournament, although Summers played his best season averaging 13.6 points and 4.1 rebounds. After the season, Summers left college early and signed up for the NBA draft .

professional

In the 2009 NBA Draft , Summers was selected 35th by the Detroit Pistons . On August 7, he signed with the Pistons, he earned 457,588 US dollars .

After two years with the Pistons, he moved to Montepaschi Siena in Italy, as a replacement for the emigrating Malik Hairston . However, he only played four competitive games for Siena before both sides canceled his contract in early November. In the 2011/12 NBA season he was under contract with the New Orleans Hornets for about two months . After he was released there, he played for another three months with the Maine Red Claws in the G-League and even made it into the Allstar Game. In March 2013 he was signed by the Los Angeles Clippers and played there for the rest of the season. He spent the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons in Europe at BK Budiwelnyk Kiev and CB Gran Canaria , always trying to recommend himself for further engagements in the NBA during the summer breaks. He started the 2015/16 season with the Westchester Knicks in the G-League before contracting an Achilles tendon injury that put him out of action for the remainder of the season. He spent the following two seasons at Karşıyaka SK and Galatasaray Istanbul in Turkey.
