Kim Da-hyun (born May 28, 1998 in Seongnam , Gyeonggi-do ) is a South Korean singer and member of the girl group Twice . Mostly she occurs under her mononym Dahyun ( Hangeul : 다현 ).

life and career

Dahyun, who wanted to teach piano lessons or become a prosecutor as a child , first attracted attention in elementary school when she performed the so-called Eagle Dance in a church and a video published on YouTube became a viral phenomenon . After a talent scout saw her performance at a dance festival, she became the agency's trainee at JYP Entertainment . During this time she also appeared briefly in music videos for Got7 and Wooyoung.

In July 2015 she emerged victorious from the casting show Sixteen , in which she was able to convince with her abilities as a rapper and was finally selected as one of the nine future members of Twice.

Because of her personality and pale skin, Dahyun's nickname is “Heung Dubu” ( Korean 흥 두부 ), which means “excited tofu ”. For the songs Missing U , Trick It and 21:29 Dahyun took part in writing the lyrics .

controversy

After Dahyun wore a T-shirt, which an organization to support the so-called comfort women spoke out, she was sharply criticized by the Japanese for it. In this context, JY Park was also charged with failure for failing to defend Dahyun adequately.
