The Story Begins is the debut mini-album by the South Korean girl group Twice . The album was released on October 20, 2015 together with the single Like Ooh-Ahh. The album was produced by JYP Entertainment founder Park Jin-young . Like Ooh-Ahh was written by the South Korean producer duo Black Eyed Pilseung.

The Story Begins entered the Gaon Album Charts at number 4, stayed there the following week and reached its highest position at number 3 in the third week. Like Ooh-Ahh entered the charts at number 22 and reached the highest position at number 10 in January 2018.

Immediately after the casting show "Sixteen" ended in early July 2015, preparations for Twice's debut began. On October 7th, JYP Entertainment announced the name of the album and single. Starting October 8th, teaser photos and short videos were published daily by each member. On October 19, the group hosted a “countdown event” on Naver V Live until the mini-album was finally released on October 20, along with the single Like Ooh-Ahh . Like Ooh-Ahh was written by the South Korean producer duo Black Eyed Pilseung together with Sam Lewis. Black Eyed Pilseung had previously written songs for Wonder Girls and Got7 , also groups under contract with JYP Entertainment.

Chart successes

The Story Begins entered the South Korean Gaon Album Charts at number 4 and reached the highest position 2 weeks later at number 3. In the Gaon annual charts 2015, the album reached number 49 with 49,904 units sold. The Story Begins was also represented in the 2016 annual charts (58th place, 50,575 units sold).

Internationally, the album was able to reach chart positions in Taiwan, Japan and the USA (Billboard World Albums).
