In 1889, the pharmacist Georg Dallmann, born in Köslin on January 17, 1858, founded the company Dallmann & Co. in Gummersbach to produce special medical sweets . The first product was Kola-Dallmann or (Dallkolat) , a chewy candy against fatigue with the active ingredients from the kola nut . This was followed by a version for diabetics and guarana sweets and tamarind - laxatives . Advertisements and mentions in pharmaceutical lists can already be found around 1900 . 1901 moved Dallmann from lack of space the operation site with his sister in Wiesbaden-Schierstein and changed its name there under factory of pharmaceutical preparations Dallmann & Co . In the same year he filed together with Otto Schütz a method for producing a urea -Präparates in England (GB190106771A) and the USA (US690080A) for patent on. Dalkolat became known in the following years as a stimulant for sport and the military. This was also advertised with celebrities such as in 1913 with the globetrotters William Hunter Workman and Fanny Bullock Workman . After the First World War , a number of other medical tablets were launched, such as Dallmann's coal tablets , Eligol tablets , the pain reliever Nucedal ( non-opioid analgesic ) or Perucognac to combat tuberculosis .

After Georg Dallmann's death in 1940, the sister's sons, Hans and Helmut Wellmann, took over the management. At the end of the Second World War , production at Dallmann was largely stopped. After Helmut Wellmann came out of captivity in 1946 , he studied pharmacy . He then developed a sage- based cough drop, which was produced by Dallmann & Co from 1959 and marketed under the name Dallmann's sage candies .

Dallmann's sage candies only became more widely known with the eco-wave of the 1980s. This led to an economic boom. At this time, Klaus Wellmann, Helmut Wellmann's son, also joined the company. After a change in the pharmaceutical laws, Dallmann discontinued the production of the Kola-Dallmann in 1998 and also of the Dallmann's Guarana sweets in 2001 . Sage sweets remained the company's only product.

Until March 2012, Dallmann & Co was a third generation family business . After that, Katjes International GmbH & Co. KG took over all shares in Dallmann & Co Factory pharmaceutical preparations GmbH via its subsidiary, Candy Pharma GmbH . In the second quarter of 2015, production moved from Wiesbaden-Schierstein to Hofheim am Taunus. In the same year new packaging was introduced. In addition to the traditional yellow folding box, there was again tin packaging and sage candy in bags.
