Danny Syvret (born June 13, 1985 in Millgrove , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who last played for the Nürnberg Ice Tigers in the German Ice Hockey League . His brother Corey is also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Danny Syvret began his career as a hockey player with the London Knights , for which he was active from 2002 to 2005 in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League . With the Knights he won the J. Ross Robertson Cup in the 2004/05 season and then the Memorial Cup , the final of the Canadian Hockey League championship . The defender played a major role in the success of his team, so he was elected to the All-Star Team of the OHL, the CHL and the Memorial Cup final tournament. He was also awarded the Max Kaminsky Trophy and the CHL Defenceman of the Year . The left-handed shooter was then selected in the third round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft as the 81st player in total by the Edmonton Oilers , for which he only played 26 games in the National Hockey League from 2005 to 2007 and contributed one assist. Mainly, Syvret played for the farm teams of the Oilers from the American Hockey League , the Grand Rapids Griffins , Springfield Falcons and Hershey Bears .

On June 6, 2008 Syvret was given in exchange for Ryan Potulny to the Philadelphia Flyers , for which he played two NHL games in the 2008/09 season , while he spent the rest of the time with their AHL farm team Philadelphia Phantoms . In the 2009/10 season Syvret was exclusively for the Flyers in the NHL on the ice. In July 2010, the Canadian signed a one-year contract with the Anaheim Ducks .

On September 30th 2010 Syvret was put on the waiver list together with Brett Festerling . After not being selected by any NHL team, Syvret was sent to the Syracuse Crunch in the American Hockey League on October 1 . On November 21, 2010, the defensive player was sent together with Rob Bordson for Patrick Maroon and David Laliberté to the Philadelphia Flyers, who used him in the Adirondack Phantoms in the American Hockey League . After his contract expired in the summer of 2011, Syvret was initially without a club before the defender was awarded a two-way contract for one year with the St. Louis Blues in August 2011 . For the 2012/13 season , the Philadelphia Flyers signed him again, but he was only used in the AHL with the Adirondack Phantoms. In early July 2013 he was transferred to the New York Rangers in exchange for Kris Newbury .

At the Rangers, however, Syvret did not get beyond stakes for the Hartford Wolf Pack farm team and scored 47 points scorer in 76 games. After the season he joined the Iowa Wild as part of a professional tryout contract , for which he played a total of 58 AHL games until March 2015. Then the Canadian moved within the league to the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins , for which he was again active on the basis of a limited trial contract. After Syvret was initially without a club at the beginning of the 2015/16 season, the Utica Comets signed him on a trial basis in December 2015 . From January 2016 he was under contract with the Kölner Haien from the German Ice Hockey League , since May 2016 with the Nürnberg Ice Tigers .
