David Laliberté (born March 17, 1986 in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu , Québec ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who was mainly active in the North American minor leagues and for various clubs in Europe.

Career

David Laliberté began his career as a hockey player in the Canadian junior league Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec , in which he was active from 2002 to 2007 for Rocket de Montréal and PEI Rocket . During this period, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2004 in the fourth round as a total of 124th player by the Philadelphia Flyers . After the winger for the first two years of minor league - farm teams , the Philadelphia Phantoms in the American Hockey League and Wheeling Nailers in the ECHL had stood on the ice, he gave during the 2009/10 season, his debut in the National Hockey League for the Philadelphia Flyers. As before, however, he also competed in the AHL for their new farm team, the Adirondack Phantoms . On November 21, 2010 he was transferred to the Anaheim Ducks together with Patrick Maroon for Rob Bordson and Danny Syvret . This then sent him to the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL.

In Syracuse Laliberté was set as a regular player before he was given to the Boston Bruins shortly before the trade deadline on February 27, 2011 together with Stefan Chaput in exchange for Brian McGrattan and Sean Zimmerman , who made him part of the farm team with the Providence Bruins in the AHL sent. In July 2011 the striker was signed by the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg from the German Ice Hockey League and given a contract for one season. In March 2012, Laliberté tore a cruciate ligament while training, so his contract was not extended after the end of the season.

After recovering from the injury, Laliberté was active with the Trenton Titans from the ECHL around the turn of the year 2012/13 , before the Adirondack Phantoms signed him in January 2013. In autumn 2013 he was again without a club before he returned to Europe in January 2014 and played a total of ten games for HC Meran from the Inter-National League . After Matthieu Beaudoin was injured, HC Bozen decided to sign David Laliberté until the end of the season. With his new team he won the EBEL championship title . In the 2014/15 season, the Canadian played for Lørenskog IK , where his contract was not renewed after the season. He was then a year and a half at HK Nitra in the Slovak Extra League under contract. With Nitra he won the Slovak championship in 2016 before ending his career in November 2016.
