Dark dance meeting

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dark Dance Treffen (short: DDT) was a series of concerts held several times a year between 2000 and 2016 in Lahr for the alternative and black scene . The event was organized within the scene and attracted up to 2000 visitors.

history

The first meeting took place in December 2000. Initially intended as an event for the black scene in southern Germany, the Dark Dance Treffen only included a discotheque event with alternating DJs , which over time was expanded to include several thematically different dance floors due to the increasing number of visitors . In 2004 the ninth DDT was expanded to include a concert for the first time. The selection of appearances covered a wide range within the black scene. In January 2006, the title of the event was renamed from “Southern German Dark Dance Meetings” to “Dark Dance Meetings”. At the end of January 2016, the organizer announced that the series of events would no longer be continued.

Venue

The Universal DOG , a former Canadian and French armed forces cinema next to Lahr Airport , served as the venue. At the DDT, the bands performed in two rooms. The "Dark Dance Floor" had the special feature that it was a former cinema hall with a sloping floor so that you had an undisturbed view of the stage from every point in the hall. Other rooms were used for disco events. In the summer the garden of the site was opened as a visitor area.

program

The first bands of the evening played on the main stage of the DDT. Most of these came from the music genres medieval rock and future pop , the headliner of the DDT played late in the evening until midnight. Further concerts then took place in the “engine room”. The artists at these concerts were more likely to be part of the electronic dance music of the black scene. Before and after the concerts, the “ Depeche Mode Floor” and the Middle Ages Floor were accessible to visitors as themed dance floors.
