Totes Erbe is a German television film by Niki Stein from 2002. It is the third film in the ZDF crime film series Das Duo .
action
Lizzy Krüger and her boss Marion Ahrens are investigating the death of shipyard owner Wolfgang Schmücker, who was burned in the flames of his house. The traces undoubtedly point to arson. Commissioner Krüger believes it is possible that Schmücker's building was in the way of the planned structural renovation and fell victim to a warm demolition . Krüger and Ahrens find out that a Dutch company is interested in the district and is in the process of buying up the entire area. Therefore, the owners are offered a purchase price at which their economic situation would usually improve. At the moment, however, nobody has sold and the group is only interested if all homeowners without exception agree. In this small post-war settlement, the small entrepreneur Franz Kreuter is in charge and cares for the place and the people like a mayor. Accordingly, he knows everyone and can provide the commissioners with advice and assistance. He states that he would never leave the settlement and that everyone else would see it similarly because they all built their houses by hand and are rooted here. But Krüger and Ahrens can find out exactly the opposite. Schmücker, on the other hand, had bought up all the land that became vacant for years and was able to destroy the business for the others by refusing to sell it. Preserving the settlement was so important to him that he made provisions in his will so that it would not be possible to sell the land in the event of his death. Krüger and Ahrens interrogate the residents of the settlement one after the other and learn that Franz Kreuter initiated the whole thing and that Schmücker's employee Felix Hinrich set the house on fire. Hinrichs escapes arrest by fleeing and tries to escape with a boat. He gets caught in the fairway of a large ship and can no longer be found. Commissioner Ahrens is convinced that Hinrich could not have survived the low water temperature.
Due to the differences between Lizzy Krüger and her colleague Benno Polenz, he is leaving Lübeck and moving to an office in Hamburg.
