The Department of Concepción is located in the center of the province of Corrientes in northeast Argentina and is one of 25 administrative units in the province. Until 1870 it was called Yaguareté Corá after the name of its capital in Guaraní , which is still popular today.
In the north it is bordered by the departments of Saladas , Mburucuyá and General Paz , in the east by the departments of San Miguel and Ituzaingó , in the south by the department of Mercedes and in the west by the department of San Roque .
The capital of the department of Concepción is the Concepción of the same name .
geography
The department is flat and evenly humid, even outside the extensive marshy plains of the estuary. The density of vegetation makes it difficult to access certain regions of the department.
population
The settlement of the department is concentrated in the north-western part of the territory. The rest of the area is largely part of the Esteros del Iberá nature reserve .
