action

In the year 2222 a group of researchers experimented with the ZSW (Times Ray Wall), which enabled them to look back into the past. During the first attempts, the actor Martin Marten can be seen changing a tire on her car for a young woman on the autobahn. After completing this shot, the ZSW pans to a lake where a couple is arguing on a jetty and the man then drives away in his car. The rocket pilot Os, who is interested in the new, not yet fully developed device, comes too close to its area of activity and is transferred to 1960. Here he ends up completely naked in this lake and scares the surprised Anita. Although she doesn't believe his story, which is supposed to explain the sudden appearance, she lends him her bathrobe so that he can buy something to wear.

In a men's clothing store, he asks a saleswoman about contemporary clothing. She cannot cope with the question because she thinks Os is not entirely sane and calls the sales point manager over. Now Os is completely dressed, only that he should pay for the things doesn't make sense to him. Therefore the police are called and take him to the station. Here he tries to convince the Section Plenipotentiary (ABV) of his story, which does not succeed, but when asked about witnesses, he can refer to Anita, who, what a coincidence, is the neighbor of the People's Police . Her friend and colleague Böckchen from the women's clothing factory “Schöne Zukunft” is convinced that she will recognize the actor Martin Marten in Os. After consulting the director of the local theater, the ABV sends the manager of the clothing store the request to send the invoice to the theater.

Anita and Böckchen decide to take Os into their business, because they don't get such a well-known actor (who he is now mistaken for) around them every day. The department head Benno, who had an argument with Anita at the lake that morning, truthfully tells that he is not an actor. He goes with the information to the operations director and both assume that it is the employee of the higher-level department. During the conversation between the director, Anita and Os about the fashionable chic of the clothes produced, Anita discovers that they only make sacks. Although Os can read in the director's mind with his GGO (feeling and thought lens) that there are new, beautiful designs in his desk by former colleague Maja Mayer, who after her delegation to the course and its successful graduation, now as a lecturer works at the fashion institute in Berlin . The director defends the unsightly models until Os presents the drawings. Benno who was called is of the opinion that no one wants to wear these clothes, but the director makes an appointment for the evening with the supposed supervisor in the hotel "Weltfrieden" to clarify the matter in a cozy atmosphere.

The evening in the hotel bar is in complete chaos. Since the actor Martin Marten, who lives in the hotel, has returned from Berlin, there are constant mix-ups with the rocket pilot Os, which starts with the porter. Maja Mayer also lives in the hotel, she is the young woman who helped Martin on the motorway that morning. Anita and her colleagues as well as the ABV are also present, with Benno Os has a physical argument. Anita and her neighbor become a couple that evening. Os falls in love with Maja and the next morning at 9 o'clock in the theater I want to prove that he and Martin are two different people. As he goes up the stairs to the theater, there is a whistling noise and he is brought back to the year 2222. Only his clothing remains.

production

The man with the lens was shot as a black and white film by the artistic work group “Heinrich Greif” and had its world premiere on October 1, 1961 in the Colosseum cinema in Berlin during the Berlin Festival . On September 21, 1962 it was shown for the first time in the program of the German TV radio .

The dramaturgy was in the hands of Willi Brückner .

criticism

Günter Sobe found in the Berliner Zeitung that the audience was very happy. The story could easily have been made funnier, livelier and more surprising. So it goes on and on, and you have time to think back and forth about how things will go on. Still, this nice little film is sure to find a large audience.

The lexicon of international films says that the film is a fantastic comedy that tends towards the friendly and ironic but does not exhaust the satirical possibilities of the material. It was staged conventionally and played loosely.
