In 1471 a hut near Dermbach is mentioned, but this did not exist. In the Thirty Years War from 1618 the place was almost completely destroyed. In 1815 the still independent community of Dermbach was incorporated into the Churches Office. Numerous changes and laws were passed afterwards, including the original cadastre of the place was created in 1831 .

In 1844 the construction of a new school began. In 1877 there were 76 pupils, in 1880 94 pupils and in 1885 105 pupils. Another new school building followed in 1900, this time in the upper part of the village. According to an old chronicle, the churchyard was laid out in 1899. However, this contradicts the actual church building, which did not take place until 1901. This church was consecrated on September 18, 1902. Numerous innovations also took place. On October 15, 1899, the first acetylene gas lamp burned in the village, and in 1900 the first water pipes were laid. On February 19, 1914, the first electric street lighting, which consisted of 13 lamps, burned. The first telephone connection was laid in March 1925. The volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1934 and today it has 65 members.

In 1907 a cattle census was carried out, which gave the following figures. There were seven horses, 55 cattle, 69 pigs, 132 goats, 140 chickens and 38 bee colonies on 91 farmsteads. In January and February 1927 an influenza epidemic claimed seven victims.

The Dermbach Post Agency opened on May 10, 1909. In the same year the gym was inaugurated. In 1930 the connecting road between Dermbach and Kirchen was expanded. The part up to Offhausen was paved throughout in the 1960s. In 1947 the first Corpus Christi procession was carried out. In 1955 Dermbach was incorporated into the new, non-governmental municipality of Herdorf. In 1966 a new school was built and it continued to operate until the late 1970s. Today there is an industrial plant there. Dermbach has been a Herdorf district since 1981. Both local grocery stores closed in 1988/1989.
