Detlef Altenbeck (born March 3, 1966 in Düsseldorf ) is a German theater director and author .

Life

After studying theater, film and television studies, modern German literary history and art history at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg , Altenbeck was employed as an assistant director at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus from 1989 to 1993 . There he worked with directors Werner Schroeter and Wilfried Minks , among others .

His directorial debut followed in 1993 at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus , where other productions followed.

From 1996 to 2001 Altenbeck worked as a freelance director in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg and Munich, among others.

In 2001 Detlef Altenbeck became director of music theater and drama, and in 2008, after his predecessor fell ill, director of the Coburg State Theater . Detlef Altenbeck has been working as a freelance director and author again since summer 2010, staging operas , drama and musicals . Altenbeck has been working for the live communication agency marbet (Marion & Bettina Würth GmbH & Co.KG) since April 2018 . At the DHBW Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University in Ravensburg, he has had a teaching position on the subject of dramaturgy and staging since 2019.
