The Dick's Sporting Goods Park is a football stadium in the US city of Commerce City , State of Colorado . The games of the Colorado Rapids football franchise from Major League Soccer (MLS) are played here. The stadium has 18,086 seats and can be expanded to 26,000 for concerts . Overall, the DSG Park area extends over an area of ​​1.5 km² . The sporting goods retail chain Dick's Sporting Goods secured the naming rights to the sports facility during the construction phase for a period of twenty years.

history

The first game took place on April 4, 2007 and was played by players from the Colorado Rapids. This game was only for city officials and season ticket holders. The first official game took place on April 7, 2007 against DC United . In addition to the Rapids, the Denver Barbarians Rugby Football Club played its home games in Dick's Sporting Goods Park. In the 2009/10 season, DSG Park was also home to Denver Dream, who played in the Legends Football League .

There are a total of 24 additional spaces on the site, two of which are laid out with artificial turf . All places are illuminated. The area also offers shopping opportunities and a new town hall was built there. The stadium is owned by the City of Commerce City and operated by Kroenke Sports Enterprises (KSE).
