The euro liars

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The euro liars. Nonsensical rescue packages, hushed up risks - this is how we are deceived is a “Euro-critical” and autobiographical non-fiction book published in 2013 by the former manager and association official Hans-Olaf Henkel in the German Heyne Verlag . Thematically, it ties in with his book Save Our Money! Germany is being sold out. How the euro fraud threatens our prosperity from 2010 onwards.

content

Henkel criticizes Merkel's government to combat the euro crisis and the reluctance of officials in the Federation of German Industries (BDI). He writes about “nonsensical rescue packages” and “covered up risks”. In addition, he criticizes individual European heads of government and financial politicians such as Jörg Asmussen , Mario Draghi , Jean-Claude Juncker , Angela Merkel , Wolfgang Schäuble and Peer Steinbrück , and the conservative journalists Nikolaus Blome , Kai Diekmann and Hugo Müller-Vogg .

He sees the competitiveness of German industry threatened by economic and financial policy decisions such as the introduction of the financial transaction tax , the low interest rate policy of the European Central Bank (ECB) and the buying up of southern European government bonds ( euro rescue package ).

Henkel sees alternatives to current European politics in the ideas of Otto Graf Lambsdorff and Ralf Dahrendorf . However, he does not consider the positions of today's FDP to be solution-oriented and instead promotes the new AfD party . Specifically, he proposes that the economically weaker countries (including France ) leave the previous euro “in a controlled manner” and form a kind of “ northern euro ”. This is the only way, in his opinion, that the troubled economies can grow again.

Reviews

“You may occasionally perceive Henkel as vain or complacent, but he explains his criticism in a comprehensible way and makes complex issues of the euro crisis more understandable. To want to show German taxpayers and account holders only the shiny side of the euro is in any case a failure of established German politics, unprecedented in post-war history. We finally need an honest debate. Hans-Olaf Henkel makes an important contribution with his clear point of view. "

- Eckhard Stuff : RBB

“Unfortunately, the book gets completely absurdly astray where its author finds: 'Not for the first time Germany has found itself divided into two parts - what you can say openly and what you can only pass on in confidence.' A 'land of four eyes' already existed in Hitler's time, then in the socialist workers 'and peasants' state, and in both cases it was necessary for survival to know the difference between open and confidential. With such sentences, Henkel exposes itself: as a fighter against the euro lie, who cannot be taken seriously. "

- Hans-Peter Schütz : The star

"It is purest renegade prose, anti-euro propaganda, foamed with a lot of 'I' and educational Latin quotations."

- Anja Maier : taz , July 18, 2013

According to Dieter Schnaas , Henkel also corrects his “lies and errors of the past”, as he “understands the crisis primarily as a crisis of liberalism and the market economy”. Schnaas explains:

“With his book and his political statement, he [Henkel] wants to show that Germany's reluctance to reform is in fact a European political project: centralization instead of subsidiarity. Debt solidarity instead of personal responsibility. Leveling up instead of competition. "

- Dieter Schnaas : Wirtschaftswoche

The journalist Alan Posener criticizes Henkel's currency analysis as being too brief, calls Henkel's comparisons between Thilo Sarrazin and Hannah Arendt "absurd" and makes fun of the "lack of loyalty of a self-promoter".
