The Anarchist's Wife is a German-Spanish-French film drama of directors Marie Noëlle and Peter Sehr from the year 2008 .
action
The story of the love between Manuela and her husband Justo , lawyer and anarchist activist in Madrid in the 1930s and later in exile in France . Justo fights against the fascist putschists under Franco during the Spanish Civil War . After his house in northern Spain was destroyed by bombs by the Condor Legion , Manuela finds shelter in Justo's office . After a final meeting in Madrid, Justo is lost during the retreat of the Republican troops. Almost ten years later Manuela recognizes Justo's face in a picture of prisoners from Mauthausen concentration camp in a French newspaper. Manuela and Justo finally see each other again in a French provincial town. Justo joins the resistance against Franco in exile in France.
